Freekeh - 1.76 OZ
Freekeh
All natural. Great source of fiber. Freekeh is a natural agricultural product. Despite the use of modern cleaning equipment, it is not always possible to remove all foreign material. Please sort and rinse freekeh before cooking. Freekeh (pronounced free-ka) has been a family favorite throughout the world for centuries. Made by fire-roasting baby green wheat, freekeh retains a higher content of dietary fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals than traditional wheat. Fire roasting also gives freekeh an earthy, nutty and delicious flavor that enhances any entree. Follow the basic preparation of freekeh for use as a side dish or toss cooked freekeh into any salad or soup to add a nutritional punch. Visit us at www.ziyad.com.

Contains: Allergen Information: Packaged on shared equipment that also packages wheat, tree nuts, peanuts, and sesame seeds.
Basic Preparation: 1 cup Ziyad brand Freekeh; 5 cups broth or water; 1 tsp olive oil; 1 tsp cumin (optional); salt and pepper to taste. Pick through freekeh, looking for small kernels or foreign objects that may be inedible. Wash freekeh under cold water and pour off any skins that float to the top. Place all ingredients in a medium pot and bring to a boil. Reduce to simmer and cover pot. Allow freekeh to absorb all liquid. You may need to add a little more liquid to achieve desired tenderness. Remove from heat and allow to rest for 5 to 10 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve. For different variations of this recipe, try adding fresh herbs, spices, and/or vegetables. You will love the flavor and benefit from its increased nutritional value. Bon Apetit.
